Community Involvement

The DECC Charities Committee works hard to become involved with community outreach, volunteer opportunities and projects around the City. In 2015, Spectra staff participated in charitable efforts at a local hospital, a senior center, an emergency shelter, an elementary school and with our armed forces.

Spectra staff at the DECC continues to partner with the surrounding community by working with several organizations and participating in successful events throughout the year.

• The DECC (Spectra) hosted the 6th annual Queen City Blood Drive in 2016. Known as the OFFICIAL blood drive of downtown Cincinnati, this year’s event produced the highest ever number of registered donors (433) and the highest number of collections received (357). This success is due to our growing partnerships of the event. This year featured the Cincinnati Cyclones, Tri-Health, the Flying Pig and Fleet Feet. Donors received a t-shirt, two tickets to a Cyclones game, a duffel bag, and coupons for Donatos pizza and Fleet Feet.
  
  
• In partnership with Give Back Cincinnati, Spectra annually organizes and hosts Fall Feast at the DECC. In 2015, Fall Feast celebrated its 10th anniversary serving over 8,500 guests. This annual Thanksgiving Day event has grown to be not only the largest in the region, but also one of the largest in the nation.
  
  
• The DECC works with ArtWorks on various murals and projects located within the Convention Center. This local non-profit organization employs and trains local youth and talent to create art and community impact through three strategic programming areas: Public Art, including an extensive mural program; an art therapy division, ArtRx; and an entrepreneurial arm, Creative Enterprise.
